Connecticut Census Data

Welcome to the Connecticut State Data Center's Connecticut data distribution page. Included below are a variety of Connecticut datasets from MAGIC, the US Census and other sources. All data are available as downloadable csv files which can be read by most spreadsheet and data programs, shapefiles in Connecticut NAD83 feet and WGS84 projections, KML (for Google Earth), and can be previewed in Google Maps. Methodology related to the data creation is included for US Census datasets and we encourage users to examine the methodology, especially when using the American Community Survey as this will provide insights into how to interpret the margin of error values.

2011 American Community Survey 1 year Estimates

The 2011 American Community Survey (ACS) 1 Year data for Connecticut includes multiple tables pertaining to age, education, households, income, housing and more for towns with a population of 65,000 or greater. Within Connecticut, 8 towns are included in the 1 year ACS data with data and includes (Bridgeport, Danbury, Hartford, New Britain, New Haven, Norwalk, Stamford, and Waterbury). Included below are the 2011 American Community Survey 1 Year estimates datasets for Connecticut at multiple levels of geography in spreadsheet format (.csv) which includes a codebook for each dataset and a file geodatabase file is also provided for ArcGIS users to easily join and map this data. The 2010 Census Demographic Profile data for Connecticut was released on May 11, 2011 and includes population, age, sex, race, ethnicity, relationship, household, and housing data. From the links below, users can download the data for Connecticut by multiple geographies from the Spreadsheet link in .csv format. Each of these geographies include multiple attributes and a codebook is provided for each dataset to assist users with using this data.

 

2010 Census Redistricting Data and Shapefiles (Public Law 94-171)

The latest 2010 Census data can be found using the American FactFinder or for advanced users, you can access this data directly via the US Census FTP server. 2010 Census Redistricting data (Public Law 94-171) data was released on March 9, 2011 and includes population, race, ethnicity, voting age (18+), and occupancy data.

* Two blocks were incorrectly reported in Groton, CT and the full details on this errata are available in the 2010 Redistricting (Public Law 94-171) Connecticut errata report.
